Canoeing and Paddling the Yukon and Teslin Rivers

The Teslin and Yukon Rivers
Travel on the Teslin and Yukon rivers is in a general northwest direction. The Teslin is relatively straight so your direction of travel stays constant. The Yukon is not the same. It turns and twists so at some point in the day you can be traveling southeast.
The Big Salmon River enters from the east between Hootilinqua and Carmacks. The Big Salmon has road access so a few start their journey at its headwates. The Big Salmon has several large, unavoidable rapids.
Lake Laberge can have very strong afternoon winds that force paddles off the water. It can be a difficult paddle.
